DUG YOURSELF OUT OF THE SNOW YET?
A Trip to Reno
and A Visit with Tom Sexton
A few days before Christmas Bob
Tompkins and Janice Frost went to Reno, picked up Tom Sexton at
his church and met the Clarkes, Ron and Nancy at the Museum of Art where
we viewed the 78 photos of Ansel Adams. Bob knew Ansel Adams personally
and had a particular interest in the exhibit. Tom accompanied Janice
and explained the nuances of artist and his skill in the Impressionist
Room full of Steven Wynn’s paintings.
We had lunch there and were fortunate to have the musical group
of Dallas Smith and Susan Mazeur (harp) entertain a large group in the
lunch area for an hour.
Janice knew the group from association 14 years ago.

Carson Valley Museum and Cultural Center
Art Exhibit of CVAA & East Fork Gallery Paintings
The Museum requested that we keep our paintings up through the
month of February since they really enhance the display room in the
main hall. We will call and let you know when to pick them up..
All artists on display there were given a
ticket worth a dollar off the entrance fee of $3 for visitors. You were
notified that the tickets were at the East Fork Gallery (also on display
at the museum).
We were given 80 such tickets, so go and
get your two and take a friend with you to view the display.
Artists not on display will have to pay the
$3 entrance fee which is a reasonable price to pay for supporting this
valuable piece of Carson Valley history.
The Paintings at the Museum are Outstanding
Trivia Info Re the Douglas High School Band
CVAA Board voted to donate $100 toward the fund to pay for the
Douglas High School Band trip to Washington D.C. to march in the
Inaugural Parade. This is a "once in a life-time" opportunity for these
young folks. Bands chosen across the country to march in the parade are
only the very best our country has to offer. This is an honor for
our dents, the students, the band, the high school, the county and the
state. We can be very proud of Dr. Zabelsky and his band members.
This will be brought up at the January 28th meeting for
membership approval.
