The CVAA has given numerous scholarships to students pursuing visual arts as a career over the years.  We started giving a scholarship to a Douglas High School senior in 1980 and have continued to do this since.  The dollar amount has risen over the years, and we now have a Scholarship Show to raise funds.
Over the past 7 – 10 years we have given two $1000 scholarships to D.H.S. seniors pursuing visual arts as a career (there are many different fields of study in this career).  We have even given some scholarships to on-going visual art students of the Carson
Valley when funds are available.  This year we extended our scholarship to Douglas County High School seniors  (public school, private or home schoolers).
       We awarded four scholarships:

Douglas High Students were:

Niles Crow - $1000 – Elizabeth Johnson Scholarship pursuing to be an art teacher

Lisa Shoemaker - $500 – CVAA Scholarship pursuing art therapy as a career

Whittell High Students were:

Sarah Angstadt - $1000 – CVAA Scholarship pursuing graphic design (computer design)

Sebastian Diaz - $500 – CVAA Scholarship pursuing photography as a career

All recipients plan to go to the
University of Nevada Reno
